Am I Pregnant? When a woman suspects she is pregnant, she might greet the prospect with joy – or panic. Regardless of your feelings about the matter, if you suspect you might be pregnant, the first thing to do is be sure.
The first sign of pregnancy for most women is when a period doesn't start on time. About a week after you become pregnant, your body starts to produce the pregnancy hormone, human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hCG), which can also be detected in your urine. The amount of hCG in your body doubles every 2 to 3 days, and reaches a maximum level at around 7 to 12 weeks into your pregnancy. You can quickly check if you have conceived with a home pregnancy test that detects human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hCG) in your urine.
If you think you might be pregnant, you may have lots of questions about home pregnancy tests. Commonly-asked questions about pregnancy tests and getting pregnant are answered in Pregnancy Tests 101 and Myths and Truths About Getting Pregnant.
