1. How accurate is the Clearblue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test?

The Clearblue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test is more than 99% accurate in laboratory tests, when used from the first day of your expected period.†

2. How does the Clearblue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test work?

When you are pregnant your body produces the pregnancy hormone hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotrophin). The amount of hCG in your body increases in the early stages of pregnancy. Clearblue Easy can detect tiny amounts of this hormone in your urine.

3. When can I use the test to determine if I am pregnant?

You can use the Clearblue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test before you expect your period start. If you test early and get a "Not Pregnant" result, there is still a chance that you may be pregnant. The table below gives the results of the clinical testing performed with Clearblue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test before the expected period.

Testing Early Table

4. When can I test with the Clearblue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test?

If you are testing before you expect your period to start we recommend you test with your first urine of the day, otherwise you can use Clearblue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test at any time of the day. To determine when your period is due, calculate your usual cycle length by counting the number of days from the first day of your period until the day before your next period starts.

  • You can test whenever you need to pass urine. Avoid excessive fluid intake before testing.
  • If you have irregular cycles, you should allow for your longest cycle in recent months before testing.
  • If you have no idea when your period is due we recommend testing not less than 19 days after the last time you had unprotected sex.
  • If the result is 'Not Pregnant', and pregnancy is still suspected, you should wait at least 3 days before testing again as you may have tested too early. Please refer to Q11.

5. What might affect the accuracy of the result?

If you are testing earlier than the day of your expected period then the accuracy of the Clearblue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test will be lower.

6. Can any medication or medical conditions affect the result?

  • Always read manufacturers' instructions for any medication you are taking before conducting a test.
  • Fertility drugs containing hCG (such as Pregnyl® and Profasi®)‡ can affect the result. Testing with the Clearblue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test too soon after administration may give a false 'Pregnant' result.
  • Other fertility therapies (such as Clomid®)††, painkillers and the contraceptive pill should not affect the result.
  • If you have recently stopped taking the contraceptive pill or are using fertility therapies like Clomid®, your periods may be irregular, leading you to test too soon.
  • If you have recently been pregnant (even if not carried to full term) you may get a false "Pregnant" result. In addition, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancy, menopause and some very rare medical conditions can give misleading results.
  • If you do get unexpected results you should discuss them with your doctor.

7. Can I use the Test Holder with any other Test Stick?

No. The Test Holder can only be used with the Test Stick(s) included in this pack.

8. I have used the Test, but the Test Ready symbol has not started flashing. What does this mean?

The Test has not been performed correctly. An error symbol will appear on the Display within 10 minutes of testing. For information on re-testing please refer to Q15.

9. What if the Test Holder gets wet?

Some splashing will not damage the Test Holder, but if it becomes very wet it may be damaged. If so, the Display will either remain blank or an error symbol will be displayed. Please refer to Q16.

10. I have used the Test but no result has appeared on the Display. What does this mean?

Your result should appear on the Display within 3 minutes. If no result appears an error symbol will appear on the Display within 10 minutes. Please refer to Q15.

11. My Test says I'm not pregnant, but my period is overdue. What should I do?

If your period does not start after 3 days you may have miscalculated the day your period was due, or the levels of the pregnancy hormone in your urine may not yet have been high enough to be detected by the Clearblue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test. Test again using another Clearblue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test. If the second test gives you a 'Not Pregnant' result and you still have not had your period, you should see your doctor.

12. My Test says I'm pregnant. What should I do?

If your result is 'Pregnant' you should see your doctor who can advise you on what steps you should take next.

13. My result is still on the Display. I have another Test Stick in the pack; can I insert this and do another test?

No. Wait until the Display has returned to a blank screen before testing again. Please refer to 'Using the Test Holder again'.

Error symbols

14. I have used the Test, but a flashing error symbol has appeared on the Display. What does this mean?

Flashing Error Symbol

The Test Stick has been ejected too soon. If it is not re-inserted quickly enough then a further error symbol will appear on the Display.

15. I have used the Test, but this symbol has appeared on the Display. What does this mean?

Error Symbol

An error has occurred during testing. It may be that too much or too little urine has been used, or that the Test Stick was ejected too soon. This symbol will be displayed for 30 minutes. You should test again. If you have unused Test Sticks in the pack use one of these, taking care to follow the instructions. Please refer to 'Using the Test Holder again'.

16. This symbol has appeared on the Display, or the Display has remained blank with no symbols being shown at all. What does this mean?
