Please note these are abbreviated instructions. Always read the in-pack Instruction Booklet before taking a test.
The Clearblue Fertility Monitor consists of Test Sticks and a hand-held Monitor. All you need to do are simple urine tests each cycle when the Monitor asks you to.
The disposable Test Sticks collect hormones from your first urine of the day. The Monitor reads the Test Stick, interprets your hormone changes, and tells you clearly if your fertile status will be low, high or peak, for the next 24 hours.
Getting Started
You can start using your Monitor on the first day of your next cycle (but not before). On this day, you set the ‘m’ Button, which tells the Monitor that your period has started and a new cycle has begun. It also establishes the 6 hour Testing Window in which you can do a test, so it’s a good idea to do this at a time when you normally get up in the morning.
Then all you need to do is turn on your Clearblue Fertility Monitor every day at any time in the 6 hour Testing Window. You’ll see the ‘m’ Symbol displayed for the first 5 days of each cycle. The number on the display screen changes each day to show you which day of your cycle you are on. On days when the Monitor needs further information about your hormone changes, it will request a test.
Performing a Test
When your Monitor asks you to perform a test, you remove a Test Stick from its protective wrapper and use it immediately. You take a sample of your urine by holding the Sampling End of the Test Stick pointing downwards in your urine stream for 3 seconds only. Alternatively, you can collect a sample in a clean, dry container and hold the Sampling End in the urine for 15 seconds. It’s important to use the first urine after you wake up, as this contains the highest concentration of hormones.
Next, keeping the Test Stick pointing downwards, you take the cap off the handle and place it over the ‘wet’ end of the Test Stick. You are now ready to insert the Test Stick in the Test Stick Slot of the Monitor as shown in the
in-pack Instruction Booklet.
When you have inserted the Test Stick correctly, the Test Stick Symbol will flash for approximately 5 minutes while the Monitor reads and interprets the information from your Test Stick. After approximately 5 minutes, the Monitor will ask you to remove the Test Stick, which you can throw away. The Monitor will now display your fertile status.
Your Fertile Status
The Clearblue Fertility Monitor shows your fertile status using a series of bars on the display: one bar for Low Fertility, two bars for High Fertility and three bars for Peak Fertility.
- Low Fertility:
Low Fertility is displayed at times in the cycle when your fertility hormones are low. You may still wish to have sex on a Low Fertility day, of course, but it’s unlikely – though not impossible – that you will conceive.
- High Fertility:
High Fertility is displayed when the Clearblue Fertility Monitor detects an increase in estrogen, which occurs as you approach Peak Fertility. If you have sex on days of High Fertility you will increase your chances of becoming pregnant.
- Peak Fertility:
Peak Fertility is displayed around the time when you ovulate (when an egg is released). If you have sex during this time, you have the greatest chance of becoming pregnant.
Approaching the end of your cycle
The Clearblue Fertility Monitor lets you know when you are approaching the end of your cycle – the ‘m’ Symbol begins to flash you can prepare for your next cycle, or, if you think your period is late, to test for pregnancy.
You can find out if you’re pregnant by using a Clearblue pregnancy test, which gives you a clear result and is more than 99% accurate when used from the day your period is due. Find out more about a
